According to ET, Kevin Costner will leave Yellowstone after season 5. The announcement follows rumors of purported friction between
the Paramount Network series' star and co-creator Taylor Sheridan over the actor's shooting obligations to the season's final episodes.
ET's sources also say there is no news on when the actors and crew will return to Montana to complete season 5's episodes. Thus, misunderstanding and dissatisfaction abound.
This comes almost two months after Deadline revealed that Costner's production scheduling issues may finish Yellowstone sooner than intended.
Since then, the reported Matthew McConaughey spinoff series has been confirmed. Paramount CEO Chris McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter that McConaughey would feature in a Yellowstone sequel.
McCarthy has more than 10 projects with Sheridan, the architect behind 1883 and 1923, on Paramount Network and Paramount+, including McConaughey's Yellowstone expansion.

A day after his wife of 18 years, Christine Costner, filed for divorce, Costner left the program.
"It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action," his spokeswoman told ET on Monday.
