The Witcher is officially one of the most successful video game franchises of all time.

The series has sold over 75 million units in total, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone selling over 50 million copies.

The Witcher is a behemoth, and new data from The Witcher game developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has revealed just how massive it is.

The Witcher video games have sold more than 75 million copies, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt accounting for more than 50 million of those sales.

These figures indicate that the series is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. In comparison,

The Witcher 3 is within striking reach of blockbuster smashes like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Red Dead Redemption 2, both of which have sold over 53 million copies and are among the best-selling games of all time.

Those Witcher sales figures are certain to increase significantly in the following years. CDPR just published a next-gen update for The Witcher 3 in December,

and it has a slew of other Witcher games in the works, including a remake of the first Witcher game, a new Witcher trilogy, and a spinoff dubbed "Project Sirius" (though CDPR recently announced that it is reassessing the game).

Let's hope those new titles do better at launch than Cyberpunk 2077, but CDPR has essentially turned that game around and will deliver a next-gen patch for it in February 2022.

Netflix is also betting big on The Witcher franchise, having just extended its Witcher TV series for a fifth season despite the fact that the third season has yet to be released.

The third season will be the final with Henry Cavill as Geralt; Liam Hemsworth will take over in season four.
