Stars defeat Kraken in Game 7, meet Golden Knights.

The Seattle Kraken, who are only in their second season,

were maintaining the same resolute defensive play that led to their victory in Game 7 of the first round against the Colorado Avalanche,

who were the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

On Monday night, the Dallas Stars were able to overcome the shot-blocking machine by taking advantage of breakaway opportunities.

At 15:59 of the second period, Stars winger Roope Hintz made a diving save, took the puck away from Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak,

and then skated in on Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer, beating him with a wrist shot from 20 feet away.

The Stars went on to win Game 7 by a score of 2-1 and move to the Western Conference final,

which will begin on Friday away at the Golden Knights in Vegas. Prior to that point, the game had been scoreless.
