Against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night, the Texas Rangers extended their advantage.
With a 10-1 romp at Angel Stadium, the Rangers ended a two-game losing run. Nathan Eovaldi pitched his second consecutive shutout inning.
Additionally, Texas (19-13) increased its advantage in the American League West over the Angels (19-15) to one game. With the exception of one day this season,
the Rangers have led or been tied for first in their division. The Rangers were particularly frustrated by the small slide.
Texas has wasted late leads in its last two games, including a Friday advantage of four runs.
After Dane Dunning's strong spot start in game one of the series, Nathan Eovaldi delivered an eight-inning masterpiece with just five hits and five strikeouts.
The right-hander increased his record to 4-2, decreased his ERA to 3.22, and now has 20 innings in a row without allowing a run.
Eovaldi was set to finish his first career shutout against the New York Yankees a week ago, but the Rangers scored seven runs in the ninth to prevent him from doing so.
