France prop Haouas jailed for hitting wife

Can NASCAR penalize Chase Elliott for his altercation with Denny Hamlin?

There is no simple answer to the question of whether or not NASCAR should suspend Chase Elliott for what happened with Denny Hamlin.

There are a lot of things to think about, like how bad the crash was, what the driver was trying to do, and what kind of example a suspension would set.

The crash itself was bad, no doubt about it. The damage to Hamlin's car was so bad that he had to leave the race.

Elliott's car was also damaged, but he was able to keep going. However, neither of the drivers was hurt in the accident.

The driver's goal is also an important thing to think about. Hamlin has said that Elliott hit him on purpose, but Elliott has denied that he did anything wrong.

NASCAR will probably have to look at tracking data and other proof to figure out if Elliott did what he did on purpose.

Last but not least, NASCAR will have to think about what kind of example a ban would set.

If Elliott is banned, it would show that NASCAR will not stand for crashes that are done on purpose.

In the end, it is up to NASCAR to decide whether or not to ban Chase Elliott.
