Moana Star Disappointed by Live-Action Dwayne Johnson Movie Recast

Dwayne Johnson-starring Disney's live-action Moana film just underwent a depressing recast.

A live-action "reimagining" of Moana is in the works,

Johnson revealed as part of the Walt Disney Company 2023 Shareholders Meeting.

While acknowledging that the film is still in its early phases of development, Sean Bailey,

president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, said it is "thrilling" to "tell such a meaningful story on a live-action canvas."

Moana's voice actress from the 2016 animation film, Auli'i Cravalho,

said on Instagram that she wouldn't be returning for the recently announced live-action film.
