Lauren Johnson can wait as Centennial approaches state championship.

FRANKLIN — Lauren Johnson will be one day behind schedule when she travels to Tuscaloosa for the softball regional in Alabama.

That works out just perfectly for the Centennial senior who will be signing with Alabama.

She isn't quite prepared for the conclusion of her high school softball career just yet.

On Monday, Centennial earned a spot in the Region 6-4A championship game by virtue of a 4-3 victory in eight innings over the Lady Patriots of visiting Independence.

The game will take place at Nolensville on Wednesday. Ellie Chun's walk-off base hit with the bases loaded allowed the winning run to be scored, giving Centennial the victory.

"What a great win," exclaimed Centennial head coach Jeff Serbin after the game.

"We've been at each other's throats the whole year. It applies to the entire team.

We count on Lauren a lot. But there's much more to it than that."
