Taylor Sheridan, co-creator and showrunner, ended Yellowstone with season 5 on February 6, according to Deadline.
After Kevin Costner sought to shoot the remaining six episodes in one week, the outlet decided.
According to Deadline, Paramount Network "declined" his request and was considering a Matthew McConaughey-starring Yellowstone spinoff to end the original series.
After his claimed request created "frustration" and "morale problems" with the cast, Paramount Network denied that Kevin was departing Yellowstone.
“Nothing new. A Paramount Network spokeswoman told Deadline, "Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that continues."
We're constantly expanding Taylor Sheridan's fantastic universe thanks to his great intellect. We want to work with Matthew McConaughey.
“Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie,” he told Puck News.
“It’s ridiculous—and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for a second. As everyone who knows Kevin knows, he is tremendously enthusiastic about the program and has always gone above and beyond to assure its success.”
