The 37-year-old singer and actress' 'The Age of Pleasure' album includes a new single called 'Lipstick Lover,' the release of which
she previewed on Wednesday (10.05.23) with a brief clip showing her emerging from a shallow pool while the melody played in the background.
"As we enter The Age Of Pleasure, 'Lipstick Lover' is our freead," she stated in a statement released on Thursday about the new album, which is slated to be released on June 9th.**mothaf**** anthem for f.a.m. inspired by f.a.m.
"This is our audio oasis, handmade with love and signed with cherry red kisses from me to you." Her promotional video, in which she wore a drenched see-through t-shirt with the word 'Pleasure' scrawled on it, went viral quickly.
The advertising photo issued with her message appears to be an homage to an iconic 1972 billboard for Jamaica tourism featuring Trinidadian model Sintra Bronte,
with Janelle's bare chest covered by her hands clutching two red flowers. Janelle just previewed 'Lipstick Lover' at her Met Gala after-party at New York's Boom Boom Room atop the Standard Hotel.
"Tonight, this year, we are in the age of motherf****** pleasure," she said during the party, hinting at the title. We are unabashedly doing the things that make us happy."
Rolling Stone stated of the tune, "Fittingly, 'Lipstick Lover' is her take on romantic reggae, an ode to a moment of queer intimacy dotted with sugary harmonies and an earworm hook."
