Georgia Bulldogs football champions decline White House invitation

According to a statement from the University of Georgia Athletic Association,

the Georgia Bulldogs football team declined an offer to attend the White House next  ...

...month to commemorate their second consecutive national championship.

The statement added, "The University of Georgia first received an invitation for the Bulldog football team to visit the White House on May 3.

"Unfortunately, given the student-athlete calendar and time of year, the recommended date is not workable.

Nevertheless, we appreciate the invitation and anticipate more possibilities for Georgia teams.

The Bulldogs finished their 15-0 flawless season by defeating the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs 65-7 in January to win the College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy.

Due to circumstances relating to Covid, neither the squad nor the Alabama Crimson Tide visited the White House after winning the title the previous year.
