ABC News adds Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan to 'GMA3'

ABC News expects a new combination to keep "GMA3" bright. The early afternoon news-and-lifestyle hour will be co-anchored by Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan. 

Joining Dr. Jen Ashton. The weekend "GMA" team includes Gio Benitez.Kim Godwin, division president, told ABC News staff Thursday morning of the decision.

Kim Godwin, who is in charge of the section, told the staff at ABC News about the decision Thursday morning.

Pilgrim and Morgan will replace Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, who left Disney's ABC after it was revealed that they were romantically involved behind the scenes, causing executives to worry about the "GMA" franchise, one of Disney's programming pillars.

"GMA3" shines. The program earned nearly $43.4 million in advertising in 2021, up 26.1% from $34.4 million in 2020. 

In its short time on broadcast, "GMA3" has undergone numerous changes. Michael Strahan and Sara Haines presented the show since it was created as a platform for casual celebrity gossip and chat.

The plan was straightforward: increase "GMA's" viewership, which would be cheaper than airing other types of original daytime programming, and create new homes for advertisers that trusted the news brand.
