DIY Pizza Bagel

These very nostalgic pizza bagels may be assembled and baked in almost the same amount of time as it takes to remove the frozen variety from the freezer. That is one slick move, for sure.

Frozen tiny pizza bagels made up around 40% of my diet as a kid. I used to eat a dozen of them every day before soccer practice, and I was still able to keep up with the other kids. It’s impossible to explain.

I’ve recently started making a little more mature version using standard-sized bagels. Yay! The baked bagels make the best chewy substrate for even the simplest of pizza toppings, such red sauce, pepperoni, and cheese.

If Bagel Bites were a part of your childhood, tell us about it in the comments!

A Pizza Bagel? What’s That?

The name pretty well sums up the concept; we’re making pizzas, but using bagels as the base. Nicely crispy around the edges, bagels have a chewy center. It makes a great pizza and is a strong vessel. Moreover, it is designed to be held in the hand. There’s no need to cut it.

Almost any pizza topping works well on a bagel, but keep in mind that less is more. Adding too many toppings will make them unmanageable. Crispy borders, toasted bottoms, and a chewy center characterize a well-made bagel pizza.

Simple Techniques and Recipes

To get these bagel pizzas just right, you’ll need to know a few tricks.

  • To begin, there is no requirement for expensive specialty bagels. You can use ordinary bagels that you buy from the grocery. For a lox brunch, the local deli bagels are worth saving.
  • Bagels should not be doused in sauce. One tablespoon each slice is a good starting point. Add too much sauce, and it will become soggy.
Mini pepperonis are a lot of fun because they are the perfect size for a bagel. Pepperoni should be quartered if you can’t get mini pepperonis.
  • Pick Your Favorite Savory Bagel and Use It
  • Bagels of any variety will do. The best options are a bagel with sesame, garlic, or poppy seeds. It’s possible that the salty toppings will make a salted bagel unnecessary. You should probably avoid eating sweet bagels.

Variations on Pizza and Bagels I Love

Got pepperoni fatigue? Get creative with these tasty twists.

Chicken barbeque: smear on some BBQ sauce, then layer on some smoked gouda, some shredded chicken, and some thinly sliced red onions.
To make a Hawaiian pizza, you can use mozzarella or Monterey jack cheese and top it with thinly sliced ham and diced pineapple. It’s important to drain and dry canned pineapple thoroughly.
My go-to pizza topping is a combination of sautéed mushrooms and crumbled Italian sausage.

PIZZA MAYONNISE RECEPIE

While pizza and mayonnaise are both delicious, they are not typically combined in a recipe. However, if you are looking for a unique pizza recipe that incorporates mayonnaise, you might try making a Japanese-style pizza called “okonomiyaki pizza.” This pizza features a mayonnaise-based sauce and is topped with a variety of savory ingredients. Here is a recipe to get you started:
Ingredients:
  • 1 pre-made pizza crust
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup sliced scallions
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the sauce.
  3. Spread the sauce evenly over the pizza crust.
  4. Top the pizza with the shredded cabbage, sliced scallions, sliced mushrooms, and cooked and crumbled bacon.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top of the pizza.
  6. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Slice and serve hot.
